Nutritional Sciences Minor - All Campuses

If you're passionate about nutrition but not sure if the nutrition majors are right for you, consider the minor! A nutrition minor may complement your major and increase your skill set. It also gives you a competitive edge in the job market, since nutrition is relevant to many different careers, including nursing, pharmacy, medicine, and other healthcare fields.

The nutritional sciences minor requires 18 total units and can be completed on campus or online.

In order to declare a minor, you must be a UA student with a declared UA major. Students may elect to pursue the nutritional sciences minor, OR the food systems minor, OR the precision nutrition and wellness minor, OR the sports nutrition minor. Students are not eligible to complete multiple minors within the school.

Majors within the school are not eligible to declare a nutritional sciences minor, sports nutrition minor, nor food systems minor. SNSW majors interested in taking the sports nutrition or food systems classes should contact their academic advisor to discuss a thematic minor

Nutrition and Food Systems Minor - Main Campus Only


EXPLORE THE WORLD'S FOOD SYSTEMS!

If you're curious about the complex relationships between culture, economics, policy and marketing, and the food system, this minor just might be for you! A food systems minor prepares you to lead the way in finding solutions to feed a steadily increasing population while preserving precious natural resources. Experience with food systems is relevant to many different careers, including food sales and marketing, organic food certification, the nonprofit sector, food policy and lobbying, food journalism, food entrepreneurship, and more.

The Nutrition and Food Systems minor requires 18 total units and can be completed on main campus.

Precision Nutrition & Wellness Minor - Main Campus 


EXPLORE THE FRONTIER OF PRECISION NUTRITION RESEARCH!

If you are interested in furthering your career in the field of research, this minor might be for you! A precision nutrition and wellness minor prepares you to gain the skills to build upon big data solutions developed for precision medicine and cancer treatment by finding new ways to apply data to better understand precision health from a holistic perspective, including interactions between genes, diets, and lifestyles. Experience in precision nutrition is relevant to many different careers, including genomic counseling, research coordination, data & bioinformatic science, and research & development specialization.

The precision nutrition and wellness minor requires 20 total units and can be completed on main campus.

EXPLORE NON-WEIGHT-BASED CONCEPTS OF WELLNESS

If you're interested in learning about weight stigma - what it is, how to spot it, and how to combat its effects on health outcomes - this minor could be a great fit! The weight inclusive health minor provides an overview of the frameworks available to provide weight inclusive care to individuals across the lifespan. Knowledge of weight-inclusive care principles and practices will be an asset to those who want careers in healthcare and other "helping professions."
